As your date reaches closer you may become more anxious to make it one of the most memorable days of your life. You will certainly need to plan it properly. Although, there are a lot of things that you can choose to do but there are some very important questions that you should ask yourself when you plan for the D-day. Also, discuss these with your doctors and spouses.

  1. Who do you want or more importantly do not want to accompany you in the delivery room? Also, if there are any other instructions like everybody will stay besides your head etc.
  1. How would you like to monitor the baby? (It could be either using a Fetoscope, Doppler, external or internal fetal monitoring)
  1. What kind of delivery position would you prefer?
  1. If the hospital allows would you like to take photographs or videos of your special moments?
  1. You may also want some people to visit you after the delivery is done. Although, you may like someone but still you will not want a big group of people inside to support you.
  1. Would you like any other special thing inside the room like a music player or iPod?
  1. Would you like to take a short walk or move around during the labor
  1. Make up your mind of what kind of pain relieving method you want to use. Some women are strong and want to go for a drug-free delivery while some can take pain to a moderate level. Consult and make your doctor aware of what are your preferences of relieving pain
  1. How are you going to get the baby out? Pushing preferences vary a lot between different women.
  1. Will you prefer of being induced?
  1. Consult your doctor if you are likely going to need a C-section. Under what situation you would like to go for a C-section and if there are any means to avoid it.
  1. After what duration of time will you like to get hold of the baby?
  1. When will you like to feed the baby for the first time?
  1. You may want some help with breastfeeding for the first time. So, decide if initially you will want to bottle or nurse-feed the baby.
  1. If you are already a mother where will you other kinds going to put up and who is going to look after them.

Keep the birth plan short and simple and make sure that the hospital staff goes through it as sometimes they can get careless in reading it and make things difficult for you.
