There are a lot of things that you need to take care of after you bring your newborn home. The baby is so delicate that even a small mistake can prove very dangerous. So be very cautious while you shower them with your love and affection. Here are some tips for you if you are a new student of parenting:

  • The neck and head of baby should never hang down. You must always place a hand below the head of the baby to support it when you hold the baby.
  • Whenever you drive along with your baby always buckle the baby into the infant seat facing rear integrated with the back seat.
  • Do not shake the baby aggressively. Infants can fall a prey to a syndrome known as “shaken baby syndrome” due to which they might get injured seriously and it might also prove to be fatal.
  • Never get involved in physically risky or dangerous activities. Avoid cooking or handling heavy material while you are with the baby.
  • Never leave your baby unattended if you place the infant seat on an elevated area for example- a table or the top of a counter or any such surface higher than the ground level.
  • Handling hot beverages should be avoided while holding the baby. Spilling them on the baby can cause a great deal of harm to the baby’s skin.
  • A baby should not be left unattended in carriers, swings, or strollers.
  • Be sure, that you never leave the baby near water.
  • The baby should be placed her back or side while sleeping. Do not put any pillow, heavy blanket or large stuffed toys in her sleeping area.
  • You should always keep an eye on the baby while you are way from her. You or your partner must not lose sight of the baby. Her activities should be supervised carefully.
  • Physical and emotional needs are fulfilled by breast feeding. During the time you feed the baby the baby is not only able to derive nutrition from the mother but is also able to establish an invisible bond with her. For adoptive parents or mothers who cannot breastfeed their baby, this bonding can be developed while formula feeding. You might take advice of your pediatrician in such cases

You will start enjoying the time you spend with your baby as days advance and step by step you will get closer to your baby. But during all this just keep the safety of the baby in mind and act like a responsible, caring parent.
