I think my Toddler has Swine flu symptoms; what should I do?
First off, be sure not to panic. Take a deep breathe and consider your Toddlers symptoms. If your Toddler has a stuffy nose and a cough but has no fever make an appointment at your local health centre. Keep an eye on their temperature and ensure their cough is not obstructing their breathing or getting worse. Below is a guide to help you decide what you should do and how bad their symptoms may are. If you are still unsure what to do I suggest heading to your closest health centre or emergency room for advice.
High Temperature
If your toddler develops a very high temperature it is recommended that you give them the required dose of medication for toddlers to reduce the temperature, keep them cool and head to your local emergency room. Even if your Toddler does not have Swine Flu; high temperatures in Toddlers indicates illness and it is best to ensure that nothing is seriously wrong. Keeping your Toddlers body temperature down is the most important thing to consider at this point. It does not matter if your Toddler has a runny nose, bad cough or if it’s in the middle of winter. It is important to gradually bring your Toddlers body temperature down.

Swine Flu was detected in 70 countries through out the world in June 2009; it still remains with us. Authorities have done a terrific job at slowing the disease but it has not been eliminated. Public campaigns and news reports of a world wide pandemic had the world in frenzy; especially parents. Most people who did die from Swine Flu had underlying illnesses and unfortunately the rapid onset of Swine Flu deteriorated their health quickly. In November 2009 there are very little reports related to Swine Flu in Westernised countries and people are taking the opportunity for vaccinations as they become available. Although the incident rate is much lower now than it was in June; it is still important to keep an eye out for symptoms in your family to ensure we all help eliminate the spread of this disease.
