Nighttime noises

My husband is an engineer and so he often works nights. He was working last night and left home about ten o clock. I went to bed after Oscar’s half ten feed.
Oscar woke again at one o clock and while I was feeding him I heard a little thump. I expected Toby to open his door as Oscar sometimes wakes him up. But Toby didn’t come out of his bedroom so I ignored the noise.
About ten minutes later I heard it again and started to worry. I was scared somebody might have broken in. Toby was still quiet in his room so I thought it must have come from downstairs. When Oscar had finished feeding I heard another noise which sounded like someone coming up the stairs. I was so scared, really shaking, and reached for my phone to call my husband. Then Toby’s door opened and out he came! I was still shaking as I put him back to bed! Cheeky trickster!
