Kids are prone to injury and most of the injuries which young kids and infants get are from their own home. Parents should therefore take some steps and evaluate the surroundings inside the home. Few such tips which will keep your infants safe at home are mentioned below:

Bend on your knees and have a look around the room from the eye level of your child. This should be done in all the rooms of your house and see if there is anything which might tempt your kid to pick or attract him. If you notice any such thing which may be harmful to your child and is in his reach then immediately remove it. Now, let us review each of these rooms individually:

Child Safety Tips in the Kitchen

  • Do not keep wrapping and plastic bags in the reach of children
  • There should be no tit bits of food lying on the flooring and low lying places should be checked
  • Keep checking your child’s mouth from time to time, if he is eating anything
  • Do not store chemicals, detergents or any toxic materials in low lying places. If you do so install locks and keep them locked
  • Keep things like match boxes, lighters, candles or such things which may catch fire away from children.

Safety Tips for the Toddler’s Room

  • Place the beds, cribs or any such furniture away from the window
  • Always keep the low lying windows closed an locked but also make sure they have some mechanism installed to open them up during a case of emergency like fire.
  • Do not keep books or any such material which could fall from the shelf and hurt your child

Child Safety Tips in the Bathroom

  • Keep toxic and unsafe substances like cosmetics and medicines in locked cabinets
  • Lotions, soaps and shampoos should also be kept away from the reach of your child
  • Buckets should be turned over and toilet seats should be locked
  • Do not keep the temperature of the water from the faucet very high
  • Always keep an eye of your child’s activities especially if he/she is near the bathroom

Child Safety Tips in all the Other Rooms

  • Make sure that there should never be things like buttons, marbles, beads, pins, coins or any such things lying around on the floor. Since children have the tendency to put such things in the mouth they could possibly choke them
  • Plants especially cacti and poisonous ones out of the rooms
  • All the sharp corners and edges of furniture should be guarded by either rubber or any other soft fabric
  • Baby gates should be installed if there are any stairs around

Some injuries in the past have even lead to death of the children and left behind their parents regretting their entire life. Therefore, child safety should be taken very seriously and should never be ignored.
