Yes, I am Fertile!
Women when planning for a little one would be very much inclined to know about their fertility. They are curious to know that are they really biologically fit to conceive or not? Will there be any complications due to their fertility issues? There are some points which the women must consider while examining their fertility:
Knowing Your Menstrual Cycle:
If a woman knows well about her cycle and she is regularly getting the periods, it is very clear that she is healthy and fertile and her hormones are working properly.
Being able to predict ovulation:
If you are able to make out your ovulation from the subtle clues which your body shows to you, this is a very good sign that you are normal.
In this way you will be able to detect the fertile days in which you can try for getting pregnant. It is generally believed that in a 28 days menstrual cycle, females ovulate on the 14 day. But this is not hard and fast rule and varies from individual to individual. If you need to calculate your ovulation day, you can rely on OPK (Ovulation Predictor Kit).
Healthy weight:
Some fertility issues may arise either if you weigh too less or too much. Thin women sometimes face difficulty in getting pregnant because of their less body fat. Their bodies constantly conserve energy for the body functioning, which can harm ovulation. Women with heavy body weight can also face problems. Excess fat can cause hormonal imbalance which will affect the ovulation as well as the development of the new embryo. Thus, deciding and working for loosing or gaining weight much before you think of getting pregnant will be a smart move!
No Endometriosis of Fibroids:
Having fibroids may have impact on your fertility and increase the risk for fertility issues. If you have symptoms like excessive pelvic pain, long heavy painful periods, then you must visit a doctor.
No unchecked Sexually Transmitted Disease:
Some bacterial infections (like gonorrhea and Chlamydia) which can spread to other organs all through the reproductive tract can cause PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease).
As a result of this, you may have infections in fallopian tubes, ovaries etc. which can cause harm to your fertility. Symptoms of PID include vaginal discharge, fever, irregular bleeding during cycles and pain during urination and sex. This PID can be treated if properly taken care of. Antibiotics may be helpful under medical guidance.
No Smoking:
It is known to everyone that smoking is injurious to health. This also includes your sexual capabilities. Smoking can cause damage to the eggs and disrupt ovulation. It can also increase the chances of miscarriage. The situation goes worse if your partner smokes too.
